The Global Shark Initiative is a gathering of people who are passionate about shark conservation. Whilst some may believe the hype and gutter image the media attributes to sharks merely as a base tactic to illicit readers others can see the animals for their true nature.
Sharks can be dangerous, of this there is no denying. This is not a Page for 'shark huggers' although some are so passionate they could be perceived to be so. This is a page for those who realize sharks are in real trouble.
Love them or hate them they need our protection. If not for us, our generation seems hell bent on self destruction, then for the sake of the World we will hand to our children.
Sharks are an integral aspect of our marine ecosystems. They regulate the weak, the old and sick fish. They maintain a healthy gene pool. Without them the Oceans will become sick. The time to stand up is now.
The idea behind this page is that there will be periodic directions to online petitions concerning shark conservation matters. We will also provide eMail directions to restaurants, hotels and other outlets where shark products continue to be sold.
It is requested that ALL fans of this page get on board and sign these petitions, it takes seconds. It is also requested that you announce that you are a Global Sharks Initiative member. By doing so our numbers will grow. Strength in numbers.
The idea is to create a tidal wave response to each of the petitions, a wall of distaste to the merchants who continue to exploit this much needed, and endangered species.
It is asked that all of this is done politely and diligently. Losing tempers and using profanities will only go to arming those being addressed with ammunition to use against us.
It's time to be counted folks. Leave the ego's at the door, this is not about who's Group, Cause or Project can be king of the hill, this is about uniting to save the one species we all tell the World we love. It will be a long process, hopefully sense will prevail.
